OCU alumnus and former coach Abe Lemons

Known as one of the greatest basketball coaches in Oklahoma history, OCU alumnus and former coach Abe Lemons (Gamma Kappa '57 - Oklahoma City), died September 2, 2002, at age 79. Lemons retired from OCU after the 1989-90 season and finished with a 25-year career record of 599-343. In 1990, he was inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame along with Johnny Bench, Ed Gallagher and Barry Switzer.

"Abe was a remarkable person," said OCU Head Basketball Coach Win Case. "He had a special way of taking life's stresses and worries and finding the humor in them- more than anybody else I've ever known."
