Our provisional chapter located in Waco, Texas, was initiated on November 23rd at the Central United Methodist Church in Waco. Members from Gamma Upsilon (Texas A&M Commerce) and Epsilon Pi (Tarleton State University) performed the ceremony as directed by Stewart Harvey, director of chapter development, and Jon Mundorf, chapter development consultant.
Of significant note, Epsilon Pi was the newest chapter in the Order and their participation in the initiation for Delta Omega was quite unique and rare. Some special guests were three fathers who were able to participate in the ceremony with their sons. The installation banquet was held at 7:00 p.m. at the Waco Hilton. Number I Presley Swann delivered the invocation prayer and immediately following, Executive Director Larry S. Wiese shared welcoming remarks and introduced special guests who included: John Ory, Mikell Province Commander; Councilor Russell C. Brown; Councilor J. Michael Duncan as well as Knight Commander David M. “Dink” Warren.
After Wiese concluded the welcoming portion of the evening’s program, a seated dinner was served. Just before completing dessert, Harvey made a presentation of the flag to the newest chapter of the Order. Following, Councilor Russell Brown presented the officers their jewels and encouraged them to excel. He then swore them into office. Councilor Duncan provided a recount of the life, times and examples set by Robert E. Lee, our spiritual founder, before presenting an official Lee portrait to the chapter. The program and evening culminated with Knight Commander Warren’s presentation of the charter and officially declaring them installed as Delta Omega Chapter of Kappa Alpha Order. The program was brought to a close by Commander Ory who congratulated the men of Delta Omega, thanked parents and guests for sharing the evening, and then delivered the benediction.
After the closing of the program, the new chapter members, their dates and guests celebrated and enjoyed music presented by a DJ.
