Second annual tourney a good cause for remembrance
Todd Shelton | 6/16/2003

It has been close to two years since the September 11th tragedy. We are still remembering David Suarez (Zeta Eta - Penn State ‘96) and the many others who lost their lives in this horrible event.

Remembering the Reason

In July 2002, the first David Suarez Softball Classic was held to bring together family, friends and the community to raise funds for a scholarship fund. With eight teams, and an attendance of over 200, the successful event raised over $8,000. With great pleasure, organizers are hosting the second annual softball tournament in West Windsor, N. J.

The Dave Suarez Friends and Family Memorial Scholarship Fund is a fund that has been created by several of Dave’s close friends to collect contributions to fund a pair of scholarships in Dave’s name. One will be awarded to a graduating senior at the West Windsor-Plainsboro High School in New Jersey and another will be awarded at Penn State among the groups that Dave was a part of.

Additionally, the first scholarship will be awarded through the KAOEF for a student attending school in the fall 2003.
