Our chapter houses have played a significant role as living and learning centers and as proud symbols of shared goals and values, but are they staying competitive with the rest of the student housing market?

According to Andrew Pitts of Treanor Architects, P.A., more than $1.5 billion was spent on new construction or renovations of on-campus housing in 2002.  Our chapter houses have played a significant role as living and learning centers and as proud symbols of shared goals and values, but are they staying competitive with the rest of the student housing market?

In 2003, Kappa Alpha Order and its Fraternity Housing Corporation in conjunction with Delta Delta Delta National House Corporation attempted to tackle this question by developing the first Greek Housing Institute. Over 40 KA and Tri Delta volunteers from across the country met in Arlington, Texas for the program.  The fraternities’ volunteers and staffs worked to assemble a group of housing and financial professionals to educate and inform house corporation members on the significant trend changes in student housing and to give them the tools to stay current, fiscally savvy and on top of the game.

Kappa Alpha Order and Delta Delta Delta, along with Alpha Omicron Pi are again proud to announce the 2nd Annual Greek Housing Institute, a two day seminar in Nashville, Tennessee specifically geared toward volunteers who work with our chapter properties.  This seminar is focused on connecting our house corporations with professionals in the field of Greek Housing.  These professionals, who all specialize in the unique needs of housing for Greek students, will provide education on topics such as project planning, major and minor renovations and will lend valuable insight and experience as you plan for the future of your chapter property.

If your chapter is in need of an immediate major renovation, or repairs and maintenance; or if you need to develop or review your long-range plan for the chapter house, Greek Housing Institute will equip you with the skills needed to stay on top.  You will leave with a better understanding of the challenges facing Greek housing and with strategic and tactical plans for coping with those challenges.
