Last summer, the Journal reported the issue concerning the National Headquarters properties possibly becoming the site for expansion of the Rockbridge County Courthouse facilities. The county is under court order to expand its facilities.
Much discussion and many meetings later, this possibility has become a reality. The county has purchased the Kappa Alpha properties.
Several alternate sites for the headquarters were identified in Lexington by the exploratory committee appointed by the board of the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation.
“Regardless of the site of our new home, we are committed to our membership and our donors,” said Larry S. Wiese, Executive Director. “We proudly recognize and honor those who made the ownership of a national headquarters a reality. We will continue to honor them.”
The KAOEF Board of Trustees in consultation with the KAO Executive Council and the Executive Director have selected an extraordinary site that could serve Kappa Alpha very well. However, at press time, the closing on the purchase is pending. An announcement should follow soon on the national website and more details will be presented in the next Journal.
The National Administrative Office and the KAOEF will be moving out of the current property in the early fall.
