RE: General Liability Policy and Requests for Additional Insured’s
Please find attached your copy of the Certificate of Insurance. This insurance covers all active chapters, alumni chapters, and house corporations.
At times it becomes necessary for chapters or house corporations to name third parties as additional insured’s under Kappa Alpha Order’s general liability policy. This is common in a situation where a chapter is renting space for a social or other function, or for a house corporation to request that the host institution for an active chapter be named pursuant to a lease or other agreement.
Any request for the naming of an additional insured must be made IN WRITING or via email to me and copied to my assistant, Dina Dudley at ddudley@ka-order.org with the SPECIFIC ENTITY OR INDIVIDUAL TO BE NAMED, DATE AND LOCATION of the event, and the AMOUNT OF COVERAGE desired. Also state that the risk management policy of Kappa Alpha Order will be enforced. The turn-around time needed for the naming of an additional insured is a minimum of two weeks due to the requirement that the request be reviewed here at the National Administrative Office and then forwarded for issuance of the certificate by the Order’s insurance broker, Hobbs Group Kirklin and Co. For those institutions that require they be named as additional insured’s on an ongoing basis, the appropriate person should make those requests annually.
Please review this information and contact me should you have any questions.
