The 7^th Leadership KA will take place in conjunction with this year’s 73rd Convention in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, June 30 at 2 p.m. and will end Wednesday, July 1 at 1 p.m.

Leadership KA is designed to recruit and educate interested alumni who desire to serve the Order in various roles.  The educational period spans two days covering chapter operations, advising chapters, risk management, and many other national related programs.
 

Selection of Class Members:

A maximum of 20 individuals can be selected to form the class of Leadership KA.  The deadline to apply for Leadership KA is May 15th.  However, it is very likely that the slots will be filled by the deadline.

Some of the attributes each class member should have are:

• Commitment to the idea and overall purpose of the project
• Time to participate responsibly in the effort and commitment to volunteer service
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• “People” skills and a talent for networking
• Clerical support of their own and upon whom they can rely when necessary
• A record of volunteer and professional accomplishments

Leadership KA benefits:

-1 free night stay at the JW Mariott (Tuesday night stay if rooming with another Leadership KA participant)

-Free Convention registration fee ($325)

Participants will need to make their own hotel reservations.  The Kappa Alpha Order National Administrative Office will pay for the Tuesday night stay if you room with another participant.   If you desire to have a private room, Kappa Alpha Order National Administrative Office will pay half of the room charges for Tuesday night only. Everyone is required to make their own hotel reservations with the hotel.  We will send a reimbursement check to cover the expenses related to the hotel room after Convention.  Each participant will be responsible to pay their travel to and from Washington D.C.
 

Lastly, the 73rd Convention for Kappa Alpha Order will begin on Wednesday, July 1 at 2 p.m. and will conclude on Friday evening, July 3rd.  Participants are encouraged to consider staying past Leadership KA and to participate in the Convention.
