What is it?
The Emerging Leaders Academy provides our future leaders the opportunity to increase their knowledge base about basic chapter operations, leadership, and how to implement a positive change in their chapter.
The Academy provides a different learning experience where we will bring the sessions out of the classroom and into the streets of Lexington. Imagine learning about the ritual in the very room Kappa Alpha Order was founded or learn more about Samuel Zenas Ammen at his gravesite. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn more about George C. Marshall at his museum.
Can you think of a better place to learn more about Robert E. Lee than Lee Chapel? The Academy is an exciting
new program available to any interested Kappa Alpha seeking to learn more about The Order for the betterment of their chapter.
How is the Emerging Leaders Academy different?
The Academy offers three different ways to learn more about Kappa Alpha Order. Through General Session Speakers, a mock chapter experience, and track sessions participants are engaged and learn more about the operations of our organization. Our goal is to prepare future leaders to become leaders in their chapters.
TRACK SESSIONS
The third essential component of the program is the track system, which offers engaging sessions educating members within a certain area of chapter operations.
1. No. II Track (New Member Education) - Preparing members awaiting initiation is the goal of every new member education program. The course includes training on how to develop responsible members, organizing a solid program, and effective pre-initiation strategies.
2. Certified Chapter Recruiters Course (CCRC) - Aim is to educate and motivate undergraduates on the core principles of rush and recruitment. Through energized discussions, innovative teaching methods, and certification tests our chapter recruiters will be able to motivate their chapter to acquire quality members.
3. Council of Honor—What better place to hear the history of our ritual and Kappa Alpha Order than where we were founded? Members will have the opportunity to be certified into the Council of Honor. This course offers ritual and laws training, a laws and ritual exam, and an induction into the Council of Honor.
4. Chapter Management—What does it take to become an Ammen Award winning chapter? This track explores every area of chapter operations. (scholarship, chapter growth, ritual, chapter finance, and member education)
