It is designed to be the most effective way to educate and motivate the crusade commanders. The crusade commander is the one member of each chapter that is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the success of The Crusade program.
In practice, The Roundtable is a four day educational experience based in Lexington, Va., home of the Lexington Triad (Alpha Tau Omega, Kappa Alpha Order and Sigma Nu), the birthplace of Kappa Alpha Order and location of our National Administrative Office. The Roundtable is conducted in similar fashion to the actual Crusade program.
Intensive hands on interaction with the program will give the staff and faculty an opportunity to evaluate the program and it will allow the participants an opportunity to provide feedback to staff about the program. Additionally, living through a well executed Crusade experience will enable the crusade commanders to properly implement the program at their own chapter. This educational experience will provide in-depth study of the following topics:
- The Core Purpose of The Crusade
- Leadership Training
- An In-depth study of Phases I - IV
- The Continued Implementation of The Crusade
- Values and Ethics
- Alumni Involvement
- Interfraternalism
- The history of Kappa Alpha
Faculty
Faculty members for The Roundtable will include greek advisors, a member of the Executive Council (Kappa Alpha's board of directors), the director of educational programming, educational & leadership consultants, educational staff members from other national fraternities and representatives from Franklin Covey, Inc.
Sponsorship
At no personal or chapter expense, Kappa Alpha Order will sponsor the crusade commander from each crusade
chapter to attend The Roundtable. This educational event will be held each June.
Benefits
The benefits of The Roundtable are numerous. The primary benefits are educational and motivational. The crusade commanders will meet and interact with the entire initiated staff, visit the historic sites of Lexington and have the opportunity to participate in a concentrated study of The Crusade.
