How do I recommend a potential member?
by: Nick Palmer, Director of Chapter Development (Click here to recommend a member online, then read below!)
Spring recruitment (formerly known as rush) is just around the corner. Know someone attending a campus with a KA chapter? Read on to learn an easy online recommendation process and a few other new tidbits about suggesting a potential young man to become a member of the Order.
The best recruiters in Kappa Alpha Order are our members. As our motto states, “Fratres Usque ad Aram Fidelis” (Brothers Faithful Unto Death), we all have an obligation to see that the Order continues to grow and thrive for future generations.
Whether you are a recent graduate, or a 50-year member, our everyday actions as KA alumni continue to represent the Order. We will always look back and remember the great times we had with our brothers as undergraduates, the times of joy and sorrow, the teachings of excellence, the gentlemanly conduct we learned and how we all grew as gentlemen.
KA alumni everywhere can ensure our chapters continue to initiate men of the highest quality by recommending them for membership through this online form. Your recommendation will go directly to the Order’s National Administrative Office and then will be forwarded to the chapter’s Number I, Number IV (recruitment chairman), Alumni Advisory Committee, and the Province Commander. Per Kappa Alpha Laws, each chapter must “acknowledge all recommendations made by alumni members and contact every individual so recommended for purposes of his consideration by the chapter.”

When you fill out the online form and the reply email is sent, you can easily reply to that message and be in direct contact with the officers, volunteers, and national staff listed above.
At times, our friends, sons, grandsons, and other people close to us either go to another fraternity, or do not get a bid from a KA chapter. Active Chapters have the sole right to elect undergraduate students at their schools, to membership. Alumni can stay in touch, support a chapter, and offer guidance, but the decision ultimately lies with the Active Chapter. It is our job as alumni, relatives, and mentors of young men going through recruitment to keep an open mind, understand why they were recommended to KA, and support their decision, ultimately. Please feel fee to contact me if you feel anything has happened in error with a recommendation.

The KA online recommendation form is an outstanding tool for us to use not only for our own chapters, but for ALL chapters around the nation. Please help ensure the Order’s prosperity by participating in this program today at https://www.kappaalphaorder.org/connect/recommend.
