Dr. Nickles Receives KA’s Highest Honor

At the Sesquicentennial Regional Celebration at the Dallas, Country Club, Knight Commander William E. Dreyer (Alpha Delta – William Jewell) conferred on Dr. Joel Alan Nickles (Delta Sigma – Houston Baptist ’74) the Knight Commander’s Accolade. This recognition is the highest individual honor an alumnus can receive. Over the one hundred and forty-nine years of the Order’s History, fourteen Knight Commanders have conferred this high honor on just two hundred and sixteen recipients.
This recognition is in honor of Dr.
Nickles’ excellence in leadership and service to Delta Sigma and Beta Xi chapter and in tribute to his assistance with the re-chartering of Gamma Mu at the University of Houston. It is further evidence in his assistance in the founding of the Houston Baptist University Alumni Association and the new formed Houston Area KA Alumni Association.

Dr. Joel Alan Nickles was initiated into Kappa Alpha Order by Delta Sigma chapter at Houston Baptist University in  1973. Throughout his time at Houston Baptist, he held a number of offices and committee chairmanships, including the officer of Number II. Nickles graduated from the University of Texas School of Dentistry in San Antonio. Dr. Nickles is the founder and owner of Cinco Meadows Dental in Houston where he continues to practice dentistry. Walsh Province Commander Doug Harris (Delta Sigma – Houston Baptist ’73) was the first patient to set in his dentistry chair nearly 35 years ago.

Dr. Nickles is currently residing in Richmond, Texas and is married to his Kappa Alpha Rose, Polly. During their 37 years of marriage, they have raised two sons, John and James, both of whom are KA alumni of Beta Xi chapter at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Nickles has also been inducted into the William Archibald Walsh and Henry J. Mikell Province Courts of Honor.
