Epsilon Iota Celebrates 35 Years; Endows Education Fund at Texas State
SAN MARCOS, TEXAS—On Aril 11th, alumni from Epsilon Iota Chapter at Texas State University gathered in San Marcos to celebrate the 35th anniversary of their chapter’s founding. As part of the weekend’s celebration, alumni donated more than $10,000 to the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation (KAOEF) to create a chapter endowment fund to support education and leadership initiatives for active members of the chapter.
The endowment will allow active members from Epsilon Iota Chapter to attend educational programs locally and throughout the country.
“Several years ago, the house corporation and alumni sponsored several newly initiated members to attend KA’s Emerging Leaders Academy in Lexington,” said David Cade, Epsilon Iota’s house corporation president. “The members who attended all went on to become good officers; one became Number I. We wanted to create the means to provide that opportunity every year.”
Epsilon Iota alumni said they hope to continue to grow the endowment moving forward to expand educational support available to the chapter.
“We hope the endowment will exceed $25,000 in near future and that alumni will continue to give back to support the chapter and promote leadership among the active members,” Cade said. “As the endowment grows, so does the support we can give the chapter.”
The fund will be managed by the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation (KAOEF) in Lexington, Va. The chapter will be able to apply for funds to use for specifically approved educational purposes each year or as approved by the KAOEF.
In addition to raising money to support the active chapter, alumni also celebrated 35 years of Kappa Alpha Order at Texas State and the alumni housing corporation’s completion of mortgage payments on the chapter house.
Epsilon Iota Chapter was installed as an active chapter of Kappa Alpha Order on December 7, 1979 at what was then Southwest Texas State University.
