Kappa Alpha Order Awards CEO of Alpha Tau Omega with Accolade for Interfraternal Service at 76th Convention
Wynn Smiley was awarded the Accolade for Interfraternal Service from Kappa Alpha Order national fraternity during its 76th Biennial Convention on Saturday, August 1st, 2015, in Roanoke, Virginia. This award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service to the Greek or fraternity community.
Wynn is a graduate University of Illinois, where he joined Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. Wynn worked as a journalist in several radio and television stations including the CBS affiliate for Central Illinois, earning both Associated Press and United Press International awards for his reporting. In 1989, Wynn founded a company, Advisor, Inc., which focused on using technology to deliver living skills to college students. One of Advisory’s early clients was LeaderShape, which led to another client, Alpha Tau Omega (ATO). In early 1991, ATO asked Wynn to join staff and bring multi-media to the fraternity communication’s effort. Six years later, Wynn was asked by the ATO Board of Directors to become Executive Director and then Chief Executive Officer.
Wynn was initiated into Alpha Tau Omega’s Gamma Omicron chapter at Purdue University in 1999. Wynn is a past member of the North-American Interfraternity Conference board (NIC). He is currently the President of the Fraternity Executive Association Board, is a member of Kiwanis International, the American Society of Association Executives, Fraternity Communications Association and is a member of Grace Community Church in Indianapolis.
