Sam Houston State KA Leads School to National Recognition

Ronny SnowRonny Snow (Gamma Tau – Sam Houston State ’87), principal of Malakoff Elementary in Malakoff, Texas, led his school to be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School.

The program recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools based on their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan recognized 335 schools as 2015 National Blue Ribbon Schools. 

Every year, the U. S. Department of Education seeks out and celebrates great American schools, schools demonstrating that all students can achieve high levels.

Malakoff Elementary was nominated by the Texas Education Agency for the recognition. Malakoff Elementary was nominated in the category of Exemplary High Performing Schools. The TEA  nominated more than 20 Texas public schools for National 2015 Blue Ribbon Schools recognition.
