Kappa Alpha Order Executive Director to Receive Interfraternity Award from Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity
Pi Kappa Phi fraternity has selected to grant the Durward W. Owen Interfraternity Award to Larry S. Wiese, executive director of Kappa Alpha Order. Larry has been on the KA staff continuously since 1995, acting as chief executive since 1996. Larry is past president and a member of the board of directors for the Fraternity Executives Association and past president and current board member of FIPG, Inc., the leading Greek risk management association. He is also past president and board member of the Fraternity and Sorority Political Action Committee. Larry serves as the Fraternity Executives Association liaison and board member for the Southeastern Interfraternity Conference (SEIFC) and serves as the Kappa Alpha Order representative on the North American Interfraternity Conference’s Governing Council.
Each two years at their national convention, Pi Kappa Phi bestows the Durward W. Owen Interfraternity Award, named after long-time Pi Kappa Phi executive director and honorary fourth founding father. Thanks to Durward’s vision and tireless work, Pi Kappa Phi recognizes the importance of working together, and not in competition, with other organizations for the benefit of the Greek world.
Pi Kappa Phi CEO Mark E. Timmes has worked closely with Larry through both FEA and NIC. Timmes remarked, “Since becoming the executive director of Kappa Alpha Order in 1996, Larry Wiese has been an integral part of the interfraternal movement from service as the president of the Fraternity Executives Association; president of the Fraternity & Sorority PAC and long serving board member of SEIFC. Pi Kappa Phi and the interfraternal movement is better because of his efforts.”
