The Beta Kappa Chapter at University of Maryland partnered with the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority to host the eighth annual Breastfest of Champions, a philanthropy event to raise money for breast cancer research.

This award-winning event has a reputation for success, having raised over $170,000 in six years.

This year the KA and Zeta members raised over $33,000, with the funds going directly to the University of Maryland Medical System Foundation and the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York.

“This year’s event was a great precedent and start for Breastfest in the future,” said Nick Delgado, KA member and event chairman. Delgado wanted to spice things up this year and host the event as a concert—it was a huge success.

The men used the large lawn in front of the KA house to their advantage, hiring a professional staging company to set up a stage and sound system for bands to perform. “The potential for Breastfest is huge and we plan on booking talented bands to play on a stage for the event coming forward,” said Delgado.

Local bands performed at the event, including Edjacated Phools, Modern Nomad, and Never Ending Fall.
