40th Year Reunion Brings Alpha Brothers back to Lexington
Some had not seen each other in over a few decades, but the Kappa Alpha Order initiation ceremony changed all of that for a group of 1977 Alpha Chapter initiates.
Neil Treger was initiated into the Alpha Chapter at Washington and Lee University in 1977, along with three dozen other men from around the nation. After graduation, some of them dispersed, never to return to Lexington, Virginia again…until they got a call from Neil inviting them to a reunion weekend for the 40th Anniversary of their initiation.
With the initiation on his son, Ian Thomas Teger (Alpha–Washington & Lee ’17), Neil thought that there was no better way to celebrate his experience as a KA, and the experience of his son, than with his brothers. Neil set off to plan a wonderful weekend filled with activities. The weekend of March 3rd through the 5th, 2017 included a Friday evening Reception at the Alpha Chapter House, brunch at the home of John Charles “Jack” (Alpha–Washington & Lee 1’77) & Leslie Bovay, athletic events of their alma mater, a tour of the Kappa Alpha Order National Administrative Office, and a cocktail reception at the home of Neil and Michelle Treger.
Finally, the weekend was capped off with the initiation of the twenty-two men into Kappa Alpha Order by Alpha Chapter at R. E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church.
“It was a successful weekend,” Neil said. “The active members did an outstanding job with the initiation itself. Jack Gagnon (Alpha–Washington & Lee ’15) provided them with sound and capable leadership.”
