Relief Efforts in Harvey’s Aftermath

Harvey had devastating impacts in Texas and Louisiana, and many people are left to deal with the historic destruction. Here are three ways that any KA can assist in the recovery effort for the people of Texas and Louisiana, including many KAs.

  1. Donate Blood: The American Red Cross and other local/regional blood banks are always in need of blood donations.
  2. Donate Items: Many KA chapters are collecting various items like food, bottled water, and household items. Reach out to a chapter near you to see how you can assist.
  3. Donate Funds: By making a tax-deductible donation to the KA Disaster Relief Grants Fund, you can ensure that your contribution directly benefits KA brothers in need. Make a contribution at KAOEF.org/donate and enter “KA Disaster Relief Fund” in the special designation field

If you know of anyone wishing to apply for a grant, please have them contact the Kappa Alpha Order National Administrative Office at (540) 463-1865.

In 2005, after Hurricane Katrina, the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation established the “KA Disaster Relief Grants Fund” to help assist KA undergraduates and alumni who find themselves in financial distress due to the occurrence of a major disaster or emergency. The fund is managed by the KAOEF, and a committee unbiasedly selects recipients based on applications received and available funds.
