Most Outstanding Alumni Chapter Goes to…Joplin, Missouri Alumni Chapter

During the 77th Convention & Brotherhood Weekend in St. Louis, Missouri, Knight Commander Darren S. Kay awarded the Joplin, Missouri Alumni Chapter with the William E. Forester Alumni Chapter Award. President Chad E. Waggoner (Delta Pi–Missouri Southern State ’93) was present to receive this recognition.

The William E. Forester Alumni Chapter Award is given in memory of William E. Forester, Former Executive Director, Executive Vice President and Archivist, to recognize the most outstanding Alumni Chapter.

The following excerpt from their award application illustrates their commitment to providing a life-long KA experience.

The Joplin Area Alumni Chapter has numerous alumni which work tirelessly for the mission of Kappa Alpha Order. We strive to make Kappa Alpha a lifelong experience by engaging our alumni with social activities for our alumni and families, and by our financial commitment and guidance to make Delta Pi Chapter a success. We project a favorable image in our community with philanthropic events and our unwavering support for Missouri Southern State University. The Joplin Area Alumni Chapter also supports other alumni chapters in the Order by sharing our success and knowledge with anyone interested.

With nearly 40 members, the Joplin, Missouri Alumni Chapter holds multiple events throughout the year, and many of them are family friendly. Some events include golf outings, family picnics, football tailgates, barbecues, and a Convivium celebration. In addition, the chapter supported the local Delta Pi Chapter at Missouri Southern State with their recruitment efforts. Lastly, the alumni chapter packed Christmas Baskets for the Salvation Army.
