Vanderbilt KA Restored as Chi Chapter

On Friday, February 23rd, 2018, at the Belle Meade Country Club, Knight Commander Darren S. Kay (Alpha Eta–Westminster ’88) re-issued the Chi Charter to the gentlemen of the Vanderbilt University Provisional Chapter. The ceremony and banquet was well attended by alumni.

The Provisional Chapter received its provisional certificate in October, 2015, and since then the chapter has grown to 77 members and achieved a 3.567 GPA in the fall semester of 2017. Members of the chapter regularly volunteer at the Nashville Veterans Health Administration (VA) hospital. The chapter has participated in Operation Crimson Gift, hosting a blood drive on campus where more than 130 participants donated blood, and the chapter has completed more than 1,000 service hours and raised $5,500 for MDA through their Golf Masters mini-golf tournament.

The chapter is involved on campus and more than 80% of the chapter members are involved in at least one other campus organization. Members hold leadership positions in the following campus organizations: Private Equity and Venture Capital club, Club Lacrosse team, Vanderbilt Shooting team, and the VUcept Board. Members are also actively involved in the Army ROTC program, Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity, Habitat for Humanity, the Transfer Student Orientation program, and several other club sports including water polo, volleyball, swimming, and tennis.

Members of the Vanderbilt University Provisional Chapter were initiated into Kappa Alpha Order on Saturday, February 17th at the Grand Lodge of Tennessee by members of the the Pi Chapter at the University of Tennessee, Theta Chapter at the University of Kentucky, the Zeta Upsilon Chapter at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, the Zeta Tau Chapter at Austin Peay State University, and the Zeta Epsilon Chapter at Tennessee Tech University.
