Joplin Fire Department & KA Raise $4k for MDA
On Saturday, October 27, 2018, the Delta Pi Chapter at Missouri Southern State University hosted a “Firehouse Run.” The 5K race was co-sponsored by the Joplin Fire Department and raised more than $4,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
Just as KA has supported MDA as our national philanthropy for many years, local fire departments all over the Country have also fundraised for MDA.
“We also paired up with the Joplin Fire Department to continue to improve our community outreach initiative and because their philanthropy is also MDA,” said chapter president Joseph Blank (Delta Pi–Missouri Southern State ’15). “They helped us advertise the event to the community and help coordinate the 5K. The FD also donated old firemen gear as prizes for the winners. It was an awesome event that had our alumnus advisor, Greek life advisor, and fellow Greeks participate in on our campus at Missouri Southern State University.”
In addition, fifteen local business helped by sponsoring the race.
