Beta Tradition Celebrates 150 Years at VMI
On Saturday, November 3rd, Kappa Alpha Order celebrated the 150th Anniversary of the Beta tradition at Virginia Military Institute with a brunch at the Kappa Alpha Order National Administrative Office at Mulberry Hill. Initiates of the Beta Commission joined local KA alumni and staff to hear Knight Commander Darren S. Kay (Alpha Eta–Westminster ’88) speak the KA legacy at VMI and give an update on the Order as a whole.
Attendees enjoyed a beautiful morning, were able to tour the grounds of Mulberry Hill, and viewed archives from Beta Chapter/Commision. More photos from the event are available on KA’s Facebook page.
Knight Commander Kay also presented SGM E. Kent McMichael (Beta Commission–VMI ’95) with the Knight Commander’s Accolade, the highest individual honor an alumnus can receive, bestowed in the sole discretion of the Knight Commander. Over fifty-two years, fourteen Knight Commanders have conferred this high honor on just two hundred and thirty-two recipients for their excellence in leadership and service to the Order.
