Chapter Update – Missouri Southern State Special Initiates Fr. Philip J. Bené
The men of the Delta-Pi Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Order are proud to announce the special initiation of the Reverend Philip J. Bené, a Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.
Father Bené received unanimous support from the Chapter for his initiation through his association with its leadership and in having guest lectured at MSSU. President Rylee Hartwell submitted his name for consideration to the brothers.
Father Bené has been a priest for twenty-five years. He earned a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome, an L.L.M. from the University of Missouri School of Law in Columbia, Missouri, and an M.A. in Theology and Master of Divinity degrees from Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in Saint Louis.
Professionally, he served as a legal attaché of the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations in New York and later at the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace in Rome.
Currently, he serves as an adjutant judicial vicar for the Archdiocese of Saint Louis and the senior associate pastor at Saint Joseph Parish in Clayton, Missouri.
On the occasion of his initiation, Father Bené expressed the following sentiments: “I thank all of the members of the chapter for their kindness and welcoming spirit. I’d like to recognize the commitment of the Order to its first value of reverence for God in Christ, as well as the great strides it’s made in recent years to fostering increasingly a culture of respect for all persons and of service to those in need. Finally, I’d like to affirm the indispensable role of alumni to provide moral leadership in accompanying the members of the fraternity to reach their full potential.”
Please join us in welcoming Father Bené into our Order and the Delta-Pi Chapter!
