Epsilon Chapter Restored at Emory

On Friday, April 26th, 2019, at the Ansley Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, Knight Commander Darren S. Kay (Alpha Eta–Westminster ’88) re-issued the Epsilon Charter to the gentlemen of the Emory University Provisional Chapter. The ceremony and banquet were well attended by alumni and guests.

The Provisional Chapter received its provisional certificate in March 2018, and since then the chapter has grown to 45 members and achieved a 3.368 GPA in the fall semester of 2018. The Chapter raised nearly $900 for MDA from a Goat Yoga event they hosted on campus and has completed a total of 491 hours of community service over the past year, volunteering mainly at local parks and trails as well as hospitals near Emory.

Members hold officer positions with organizations including Emory Emergency Medical Services, Friends of Ira B. Melton Park, and Toys for Tots at Emory. Members are also actively involved in the Varsity Track & Field and Men’s Tennis teams, Outdoor Emory, the Emory Wheel, and a number of business and professional fraternities/societies. Seventy-five percent of chapter members are actively involved in at least one student organization outside of KA.

Members of the Provisional Chapter were initiated into Kappa Alpha Order on Thursday, April 25th at the Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church by members of the Zeta Nu Chapter at the University of North Florida and Kappa Chapter at Mercer University.
