Prayer for Protection
Lord, we are taught to pray without ceasing. In fact, many of the blessings God wants us to enjoy will never be realized unless we pray. All believers know to pray, and all the brothers should want to pray. But many would have to admit their prayer life is somewhere between mediocre and non-existent. Excellence is our aim! Praying consistently will change our lives. So, Lord, we pause in the calamity of our lives and give these moments to you. Selah.
Sometimes we allow attitudes to get into our hearts that are inconsistent with universal values. Sometimes we can do and say things that are detrimental, not only to us, but to others, and not really understand the damage we have done. God, put the spotlight on anything in our lives that has raised a barrier between us and You and we will turn from it.
Your Word teaches us that whenever we are faced with any calamity such as war, plague, or famine, we can come to stand in your presence, cry out to you to save us, and you will hear us. So we ask that you protect all as we deal with COVID-19. Lord, provide a cure, heal our economy, bring a quick end to the isolation and division of these dark times.
Lord, we echo the words of the prophet Habakkuk,
“Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls — Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”
We pray all these things in Your Name, Amen.
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” Matthew 7:7-11
