On September 11, 2025, during the Alpha Upsilon House Dedication in Oxford, Mississippi, the Knight Commander’s Accolade was presented to Joseph T. Getz (Alpha Upsilon–Mississippi ’78)
Joseph T. Getz leads the Construction and Surety Law Practice Group at Evans Petree PC, where he has focused exclusively on construction and surety bond contract matters for more than twenty-five years. He advises clients on all aspects of construction projects from negotiating contracts and navigating insurance and bonding requirements to resolving disputes involving delays, design issues, or project performance. His work spans projects such as sports arenas, university facilities, hotels, manufacturing plants, and large-scale commercial developments.
Recognized nationally for his work, Joseph holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been named a Super Lawyer in construction law for nineteen consecutive years. He has been consistently listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Construction Law and Litigation and has earned multiple “Lawyer of the Year” honors in Memphis. In 2025, he was also recognized by Chambers USA in the field of Construction Law.
Beyond his legal career, Joseph has long been active in leadership and service. He currently serves as President of Evans Petree PC and President of the Kappa Alpha Order House Corporation for Ole Miss. He was honored with induction into the Irwin Court of Honor in October 2023, reflecting his continued dedication to fraternity values and community. Earlier in life, he served as Rush Chairman for Kappa Alpha Order in 1977, an experience that shaped his leadership journey.
Active in the industry, he is a member of the ABA Forum Committee on Construction and the National Bond Claims Association.
Joseph is also proud to be the father of Brennan Getz (Alpha Upsilon–Mississippi ’21), continuing a family legacy of brotherhood.
