Arthur H. Richardson

Awarded: Knight Commander’s Accolade – January 1, 1977

Richardson (Beta Zeta ’42 – University of Florida) served as editor of The Kappa Alpha Journal from 1970 to 1977, during which time he oversaw the production of 31 issues. He was the first Floridian ever to receive The Knight Commander’s Accolade.

After earning a degree in journalism in 1950, Richardson worked for newspapers in Pensacola, Fla., as a reporter, telegraph editor, bureau chief and state editor. He began working for the Jacksonville Times-Union in 1955, where he was a copy editor, a member of the Tallahassee bureau and state news editor. In 1977, he was named the second reader advocate for the Jacksonville Times-Union, a position he held until 1983.

Richardson also served the Order as director of the Jacksonville KA alumni chapter.
