Showalter Selected to Committee of 100 for Economic Development

The Committee of 100 for Economic Development, Inc. has selected Erik Showalter (Gamma Alpha–Louisiana Tech ’02) as a member for 2023. C100 Committee Member Kris Kirkpatrick who nominated Erik for membership stated, “C100 is excited to have Erik. He brings experience and knowledge to the membership of C100 that will greatly benefit our members and the citizens of our state.”

Erik is the President of the Baton Rouge General Foundation. Through his leadership, the Foundation built a comprehensive strategic plan and patient-centric mission, collaborating with a diverse group of hospital administrators, physicians, and community stakeholders to uplift the hospital and community financially and thoughtfully during the Covid-19 pandemic. Efforts such as these and others have resulted in a transformational four-year period of growth for the hospital foundation, increasing regular annual revenues by over 156%. Erik and his team continue their work supporting the Baton Rogue General Hospital in achieving its strategic goals through philanthropy.

Prior to serving as the President of the Baton Rouge General Foundation, Erik was the Major and Planned Gifts Officer from 2016-2018, a position in which he influenced and contributed to over $6 million in fundraising over two years. Erik’s background includes work at CCS, an international strategic fundraising and campaign management firm in Washington, DC, and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Louisiana Tech University. Due to his success, Erik has received prestigious recognitions such as the Baton Rouge Business Report’s “40 Under 40” in 2019 and the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy International “40 Under 40” in 2020.

The Committee of 100 for Economic Development Inc is Louisiana’s Business Roundtable promoting public policy that makes Louisiana more competitive in retaining existing business and industry and attracting more innovative businesses to Louisiana.

A member of the KAOEF’s Crimson and Gold Society since 2013, Erik has served the Order in numerous roles including working on staff as an Educational Leadership Consultant and Western Regional Advisor and working for the KAOEF for seven years as a Director of Development and Chief Development Officer. He is a member of the Ammen, Neal, Hamilton, Frampton, and White Province Courts of Honor and the Loyal Order. Erik and his wife Brooke reside in Baton Rouge with two daughters, Maggie and Virginia.
