Walter E. Murphree
Awarded: Knight Commander’s Accolade
Awarded by Knight Commander Benjamin W. Satcher, Jr.
Beta Zeta celebrated its centennial this past semester, welcoming nearly 400 actives and alumni to the house to see their old pictures on the walls and trophies still shining in the case. They attended the initiation of four great men: Joe Reames, Dr. John Debevoise, William Knowles, and Tom McKean. From there they found themselves celebrating at the Swamp Restaurant. Saturday brought a golf outing at Haile Plantation in the morning. That night Beta Zeta held their Centennial Celebration at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, which featured inductions into the Court of Honor, the awarding of the Knight Commander‘s accolade to Dub Murphree and a speech by the current Province Commander, Blair Bailey.
Walter E “Dub” Murphree has served more than 18 years as alumnus advisor to Beta Zeta Chapter.
