Thomas Lee
Awarded: Knight Commander’s Commendation – February 8, 2025
Thomas Lee is from Nu chapter at Auburn. I want to share some information from his chapter brothers, in quoting their letter: “In May 2023, Thomas rode home from finishing his freshman year at Auburn to Decatur, Alabama. He was uncontrollably throwing up and had major headaches. After his mother took him to the hospital, and ultimately Thomas was diagnosed with brain cancer. From fall of 2023 to spring of 2024, Thomas spent majority of his time in Memphis, at St. Jude’s hospital, undergoing several rounds of chemotherapy treatment during what was supposed to be his sophomore year.
Thomas’s life changed through this experience and by facing an uncertain fate in the face, he showed true courage and character—namely to his brothers at the Nu Chapter. A Bible verse that constantly came up through this period was Joshua, Chapter 1, Verse 9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Not only did Thomas beat cancer, but he emerged from the experience with a strong faith in Jesus Christ. Thomas’s courage and character have been an inspiration to all of us, and have left an indelible mark on our chapter and beyond.
