Charles Segars III (Delta Omega–Clemson ’22) has been awarded South Carolina’s Order of the Silver Crescent, the state’s highest civilian honor for community impact and volunteer service. He was recognized alongside Joseph Pope Jr., a fellow Clemson student, during the Division of Student Affairs’ annual awards ceremony.
The award was presented by State Senator Thomas C. Alexander, who represents South Carolina’s 1st District. The Order of the Silver Crescent is given by the Governor to South Carolinians for significant contributions to their communities.
Segars and Pope were recognized for their actions in August 2023, when they rescued two people from a burning vehicle following a car crash in Pickens County. Their involvement in the rescue was previously covered by Kappa Alpha Order: Clemson KA Helps Save Two Lives in Fiery Car Wreck
Segars is a mechanical engineering major from Rock Hill, South Carolina. Pope is a political science major from Columbia.
