Coastal Carolina Brother Rescues Driver from Burning Vehicle

Noah E. Allatt (Zeta Omega–Coastal Carolina ’17) was recently recognized for his extraordinary heroism after rescuing a trapped motorist from a burning vehicle following a catastrophic crash in New Jersey.

headshotNoah Allatt, now a police officer with the Bridgewater Township Police Department, sprang into action on the morning of March 5, 2025, when a tanker truck collided with a car and burst into flames along Route 202/206. Arriving quickly at the chaotic scene, Officer Allatt ran toward the blaze, undeterred by the intense heat and thick smoke. Bodycam and dashcam footage captured the dramatic moment as he pulled the car’s driver to safety just seconds before the vehicle became engulfed in flames.

His actions that day were nothing short of life-saving. According to reports, the motorist was pinned inside the vehicle and unable to exit due to the damage. Allatt managed to open the door and remove the driver despite the rapidly worsening conditions. Emergency responders on the scene later confirmed that without Allatt’s quick intervention, the driver likely would not have survived.

In recognition of his bravery and decisive action, Officer Allatt was honored with the inaugural Mayor’s Award for Exceptional Public Service by the Township of Bridgewater. The award was created to acknowledge individuals who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to protecting and serving the community.

“Officer Allatt’s courage and selflessness reflect the highest standards of public service,” said Bridgewater Mayor Matthew Moench. “His instinct to run toward danger to help someone in need is what this award is all about.”
