Old Dominion Alumni Celebrate 60th Anniversary of Delta Gamma Chapter

May 2nd and 3rd, 2025, brothers, wives, and girlfriends came together in Norfolk, Virginia, to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the chartering of the Delta Gamma Chapter at Old Dominion University and to honor the Founders of our Order in the Convivium celebration.

Events started on Friday evening at Just Birdies, with an ice-breaker informal social to catch up with brothers and enjoy the multi-sport simulators, golf being the most popular. Past relationships were quickly rekindled, even for those brothers who had not returned since graduation. Of course, the ladies in attendance were “enriched” with stories and reminiscences of days gone by.

On Saturday, Brother Terry Durkin, Associate Director of Housing Operations for ODU, planned and arranged an update brief on the University, a luncheon, and a campus tour.

The evening brought the marquee event at the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club, which included a social hour, dinner, a program, and more time for connecting with all in attendance. Among the more than 60 brothers in attendance, we had initiates from the Chartering Pledge class, Past Province Commanders, Undergraduate Chairmen, and Ammen Province Court of Honor members. A moving portion of the program remembered those brothers who had gone to our Chapter Eternal before us. The floor was open for individual remembrances and tributes. Master of Ceremonies was Michael “Flash” Gordon, who did an excellent job. A huge appreciation to Brother O.V. Gillikin, who brought chapter historical artifacts (composites, pledge class paddles), Brother Dennis Kiser, who got the ball rolling, and Brother Gary Layne, who, along with Brother Gordon, co-chaired the planning, coordination, and organization for the highly successful event.
