Trey Rose (Beta Commission–VMI ’16) has been promoted to Director of Baseball Operations for the Pittsburgh Pirates, marking a significant milestone in his professional journey within Major League Baseball.
Rose began his tenure with the Pirates in 2017 as a Baseball Operations Fellow. Over the years, he advanced through various roles, including Assistant and Coordinator positions, before serving as Assistant Director of Baseball Operations for three seasons. His promotion to Director was officially announced on February 5, 2025, as part of a broader reorganization of the Pirates’ front office under General Manager Ben Cherington.
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Rose graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 2016 with a degree in Business and Economics. During his time at VMI, he was actively involved in campus leadership and athletics. His transition from collegiate athletics to a front-office role in professional baseball exemplifies his dedication and adaptability.
