Baylor Faculty Advisor Recognized at Convention

Michael Woodson with Award

On Thursday, August 10, 2023, during Meeting I of the 80th Convention held in Orlando, Florida, Knight Commander Simmons recognized Delta Omega Chapter Faculty Advisor Michael Woodson as Faculty Advisor of the Year.  This award was established to recognize a faculty advisor for excellence and achievement.

Michael Woodson was named the 10th head coach in Baylor Men’s Tennis program history on May 6, 2021, after previously being named the interim head coach for the 2020–21 season. He now enters his sixth season with the Bears after previously serving as associate head coach. He was the assistant coach for three seasons before being promoted in December 2019. Woodson graduated from Valparaiso in May of 2012 as a triple major in biology, chemistry, and exercise science. He also earned a master’s degree in sports administration from Valparaiso University in December of 2013.

He married his wife, Vanessa, in July 2017. The couple has two children, Jordyn and Kiley. He affiliated with the Delta Omega chapter at Baylor University in spring 2022 as their faculty advisor, saving the chapter from a loss of recognition by the university. Since becoming faculty advisor, he has worked hard to defend and improve the chapter in multiple facets. Michael was subsequently elected to membership by the chapter and will be initiated tomorrow during the Convention’s Model Initiation.
