Georgetown College announced that David W. “Buzz” Baker (Beta Delta–Georgetown ’79) would be recognized with its Distinguished Alumni Award. Dave and the six other recipients for 2023 will be honored on Thursday, October 12 during Homecoming Weekend.
“It’s a great honor, Georgetown has always had a special place in my heart,” Baker said. “Not only for my experience as a student but afterward as well.”
The award is presented to alumni who have “distinguished themselves professionally and through service to Georgetown College,” according to the nomination page for the award.

In addition to covering sports around Central Kentucky for WKYT, Baker calls the action for UK men’s and women’s soccer and women’s softball on the SEC Network Plus. He has been a part of Turner Sports “Team Casts” for The Final Four twice and was inducted into the Kentucky Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame in 2022.
