John H. Crawford III (Georgia ’62) and his family were recently recognized with the 2025 Family of the Year Award by the University of Georgia Alumni Association for their decades-long support and commitment to UGA.
A proud member of Kappa Alpha Order, Crawford was active on campus during his time at Georgia, where he won an SEC pole vault title, co-founded the Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter, and was a member of Blue Key and the Sphinx Society.
Crawford and his wife Cathie established the Crawford Family Scholarship Fund in 2014, supporting 20 UGA students annually, known as Crawford Scholars. Their three sons, including John IV (Gamma–Georgia ’85)—also a KA brother—carry on the family’s tradition of philanthropy and leadership. Additionally, John IV’s son, Jack (Gamma–Georgia ’18) is also a KA.
The Crawford family’s ongoing impact on the university reflects the values of service, leadership, and brotherhood rooted in the Kappa Alpha experience.
