Virginia Wesleyan Alumnus Hired to 8News Team

Jordan Bondurant (Epsilon Omicron–Virginia Wesleyan ’08) joined WRIC 8News in December 2020 as a Digital Content Producer.

Jordan has a sports journalism background with experience covering everything from youth baseball to NASCAR and the Washington Capitals. He is an avid Atlanta Braves, Caps and Dallas Cowboys fan, with an affinity for motorsports. You can catch Jordan up early throughout the year tuning in to Formula 1 racing.

“I enjoy covering sports because I’ve always had a passion for athletic competition and storytelling,” Jordan commented. “Athletes go through a wide range of emotions throughout a game, a season and even a career. There’s always more to it than just the score and who won and who lost. And on top of that no game or event is ever the same. It’s awesome to be there and watch everything unfold in real time and then inform the masses about what happened.”

Jordan is a graduate of Virginia Wesleyan University where he studied communications with a focus in journalism. While at VWU, Jordan was sports editor of the campus newspaper, The Marlin Chronicle, was a public address and play-by-play announcer for numerous on-campus sporting events, threw shot-put and discus on the track and field team, sang in choirs on campus, was president of the Student Government Association, and is a member of the Epsilon Omicron chapter of Kappa Alpha Order. As an undergraduate, Jordan served his chapter as Number III, Number IV, and Number V.

“Being a KA has impacted my personal life immensely.”

“Being a KA has impacted my personal life immensely,” Jordan said. “Some of my best friends from college were my brothers, and while our careers have spread us out across the country and across Virginia where I live, or gotten married and started families, our fraternal bond remains strong.”

He has written for newspapers across Virginia including the Richmond Times-Dispatch and the Danville Register & Bee. Jordan’s voice has also been featured on the air on News Radio WRVA and Sports Radio 910 The Fan.

Outside of work, and when not consumed by sports on television, Jordan enjoys spending time with his wife Sarah and friends and family. He tries to stay up to date on the latest computer news, watching YouTube videos by creators like JayzTwoCents, Gamers Nexus and Paul’s Hardware. Jordan also enjoys playing golf, he’s a master of the three-putt, and being an active member of Central United Methodist Church in Richmond.

He was born and raised in Chesterfield County.
