The Zeta Delta Chapter at the University of Nevada, Reno celebrated this past Saturday by honoring two veterans during its football matchup against San Jose State. The chapter contributed more than $75,000 this year while partnered with The Independence Fund and was able to fund two motorized track chairs.
Veteran Jon E., who served four years in the U.S. Navy before a motorcycle accident left him with life-changing injuries, received an all-terrain track chair that will allow him to enjoy his favorite hobbies, including recumbent biking and off-roading with his Jeep.
Veteran Tim E., who served more than three years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Nimitz, saw his career cut short by a training accident that resulted in multiple surgeries and the loss of his left leg below the knee. Now living in East Wenatchee, Washington, Tim enjoys hiking, hunting, and time at the gun range with family and friends. An all-terrain track chair from The Independence Fund will enrich his life by giving him the freedom to explore the outdoors he
loves and to continue sharing those experiences with his son.
These remarkable gifts reflect gratitude, empowerment, and hope, helping America’s heroes rediscover the freedom they so bravely defended.
