Quotes from their Experience

Jesse C. Brown

“The Kappa Alpha Order E. Fleming Mason Internship Program has been the best opportunity ever presented to me. I am from a small town in Texas that has a population of merely 1,000 people. Never in my wildest dreams did I imaging that me, a small town boy from Alvord, Texas would be able to live, work, and learn in our Nation’s Capital.

The E. Fleming Mason Memorial Internship allowed me to physically see and visit American history that, until then, I had only seen in pictures. Along with witnessing history first-hand, I had the pleasure of meeting extraordinary Congressmen, Senators and national leaders. I experienced the D.C. social life directly. I made lasting memories, met multiple people and forged friendships that will last a lifetime. This internship has opened my eyes to the bigger picture. It has allowed me to return home with a renowned sense of purpose and direction. I can guarantee that I am a better man because I was able to experience the Kappa Alpha Order E. Fleming Mason Internship Program.” – Jesse C. Brown

Matthew G. Brownlee

“Working and living in DC was quite the experience. Having studied politics throughout my college career, it was great to finally get to see how the country works first hand. My favorite part of the internship was meeting all the other KAs that lived in the area. From Congressmen to Chiefs of Staff to interns. KA’s are everywhere in DC. My internship solidified my idea that I want to live and work in DC when I graduate in December.” – Matthew G. Brownlee

R. Dustin James

“”The E. Fleming Mason Memorial Internship is one that is life-changing. From learning about real-world government and political operations to working events for Congressmen, Senators and even Presidential Nominees, the possibilities are endless. You are not just an intern in Washington, DC, you are part of a program that is truly one-of-a-kind. This would not be possible if it were not for the devoted actives, alumni and community sponsors to the KAOEF that help keep this program alive and well. It is truly an honor to have served as a 2015 Mason Intern, more especially because of who E. Fleming Mason was and has done for my chapter and Kappa Alpha Order as a whole.
Living in Washington, DC is an extraordinary time, not only that but there are over 3,000 KA’s working and living in the District every Summer. This allows for a plethora of networking opportunities. This years 76th Convention & Sesquicentennial Celebration was also a great success and marks a very important time in our Order’s History. We are now 150 years strong and continue to grow every semester, now with the largest amount of brothers being initiated and the highest GPA in the history of KA. It makes me very proud to be a member of Kappa Alpha Order. Being a member of this organization has taught me many things and I would not be where or who I am today if it were not for KA.
More importantly, I challenge each and every one of you to apply for this amazing opportunity. The E. Fleming Mason Memorial Internship is one that will truly change the outlook of your future and of your career.” – R. Dustin James

Nicholas A. Loper

“The E. Fleming Mason Internship is the most rewarding and exclusive program a KA can participate in during his undergraduate experience. For undergraduates to have an opportunity to work, live and enjoy DC is a once in a life time experience that will resonate throughout your life. The amount of networking and experiences in DC can easily set you off in any direction you would like your career and life to go. Most importantly, this experience brings together KAs from across the nation in order to achieve excellence in Washington, D.C.” – Nicholas A. Loper

Weston Y. Loyd

“As the only program of its kind in the fraternity world, the E. Fleming Mason Memorial Internship truly is a one-of-a-kind internship that provides interns with real world experience that is applicable to one’s career path and goals. Not only did I get to intern on Capitol Hill, but I was able to attend various events in DC that provided me with ample networking opportunities in order to succeed in my future endeavors.

I am so fortunate to have been selected for the program and I am extremely grateful for the KAOEF for providing its brothers with such a unique opportunity. The alumni base in DC and the surrounding area is unparalleled and the opportunities for the summer are endless. Proud to be a KA!” – Weston Y. Loyd
