Beta Eta Chapter Restored at Oklahoma

On Saturday, October 14th, 2023, Knight Commander King V. Aiken, Jr. (Kappa–Mercer ’83) re-issued the Beta Eta Charter to the gentlemen of the University of Oklahoma Provisional Chapter. The ceremony and banquet were held in the Venetian Room of The Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and were well attended by alumni, parents, staff, and volunteers.

Since the provisional chapter was established on September 25, 2022, the provisional chapter has worked to recruit fifty-nine (59) members while achieving a 3.24 Spring 2023 grade point average. Members have been involved with philanthropy and service efforts within the Norman community and on campus. Throughout the course of the last academic year, the members have completed an estimated 1,200 of service with organizations including the BIG Event. The chapter has raised more than $1,100 for The Independence Fund. Members of the OU Provisional Chapter are involved on campus in various clubs and organizations. Organizations for which members serve on an executive board include the American Indian Student Association, ESports Club, German Club, Interfraternity Council, Pre-Law Society, and Student Mobilization (STUMO). Other organizations in which members participate include Art Club, Asian American Student Association, Camp Crimson, Club Baseball, Economics Club, Honors Student Association, Mexican American Student Association, OU Marketing Team, ROTC, and the Transfer Student Club.

At the banquet Executive Director Larry Stanton Wiese (Gamma Omega–Midwestern State ’87) welcomed all attendees and gave opening remarks, Alumnus Advisor Keith A. Beall (Beta Eta–Oklahoma ’86) led the pledge of allegiance, and Director of Communications Brent E. Buswell (Beta Eta–Oklahoma ’09) gave the invocation.  Following dinner,  Number I Ryan L. Collett (Beta Eta–Oklahoma ’23) gave an address from the Chapter, and Senior Councilor James M. Schmuck (Alpha Eta–Westminster ’69) installed the chapter officers with Locke Province  Commander H. David Pinson (Epsilon Zeta–Arkansas Tech ’00) presented them with their officer jewels. To conclude the evening, Knight Commander Aiken gave his remarks and presented the Beta Eta Charter, and Province Commander Pinson gave the benediction.

The Chapter Members were initiated on October 11th and 12th on campus in the Thurman J. White Forum Building by members of the Beta Xi Chapter at Oklahoma State University and the Beta Iota Chapter at Drury University.
