Mississippi State Alumnus Leads MSU to Surpass State Fundraising Record

John P. Rush (Beta Tau–Mississippi State ’91) is the Vice President for Development and Alumni of Mississippi State University (MSU) and president and CEO of the Mississippi State University Foundation.

MSU recently announced a historic philanthropic achievement in surpassing all previous single-year fundraising records among the state’s public institutions of higher education. The university raised in gifts and commitments an astonishing $259.9 million in the 2023 fiscal year, including a $100 million gift from George and Kathy Bishop, the largest gift to a higher education institution in the entire state of Mississippi.

“This remarkable achievement not only demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the university’s generous supporters, but also solidifies Mississippi State University’s position as a leading institution dedicated to excellence in education, research and service,” said Rush.
