2026 Duncan Court of Honor Recognizes Eight Deserving Alumni

The J. Michael Duncan Province Court of Honor held its annual induction ceremony on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, at The Constellation Club in Irving, Texas. More than one hundred and twenty brothers and friends gathered to celebrate our beloved Kappa Alpha Order and those distinguished alumni who have given their time, energy, and service to KA.

The following men were recognized and invested with the provincial cross of honor in recognition of their outstanding service to the Order and accomplishments which have brought honor to Kappa Alpha Order.

2026 Inductees

John Robert Bolander (Gamma Tau–Sam Houston State ’90)

Bolander earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sam Houston State University. He retired following a business career in Houston, Texas.

Since 2022, he has served on the Gamma Tau House Corporation Board, assisting with facility oversight, maintenance coordination, and operational matters related to the chapter house. He is a donor to the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation.

He and his wife, Tammy, reside in Huntsville, Texas.

Matthew Brandon Elders (Gamma Sigma–West Texas A&M ’00)

Elders earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems from West Texas A&M University.

From 2018 to 2023, he led the Panhandle Alumni Association, working to increase alumni engagement and strengthen collaboration with the active chapter.

He serves as Manager of Database Engineering at Medidata Solutions. He is a member of the St. Thomas Men’s Club in Amarillo and the Amarillo High Choir Booster Club. He won the Amarillo Men’s City Golf Championship in 2021 and 2023.

He and his wife, Frances, reside in Canyon, Texas, with their three daughters.

P. Blaine Grant (Beta Lambda–Southern Methodist ’89)

Grant earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and later a Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University. He is a partner with the boutique litigation firm Johnston Clem Gillford, PLLC.

He is recognized as an AV® Preeminent™ peer review rated lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell and has been named a Kentucky Super Lawyer® in multiple litigation categories. He previously served as an Assistant District Attorney in Dallas County.

He serves as Vice President of the Beta Lambda Housing Corporation and has volunteered to serve as a Beta Lambda Alumni Advisor Designee in support of the chapter’s return to campus. He is a donor to the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation.

He and his wife, Andrea, reside in Dallas, Texas, and have two sons. The older is a graduate of SMU, and the younger is currently a junior at SMU.

Arthur Allen Jones (Gamma Omega–Midwestern State ’90)

Jones earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Midwestern State University and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Baylor University.

He is Co-Founder and Principal of MA Partners, a master planned land and resort development firm. He has more than 25 years of experience in real estate, primarily in residential land development.

He is a five-year member of the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation’s Crimson & Gold Society. 

He and his wife, Amy, reside in Frisco, Texas, with their two children.

William Patrick Houstoun (Xi–Southwestern ‘97)

Houstoun earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southwestern University. He is a Vice President at Lockton Companies, where he works in risk management as a strategic advisor.

He serves on the Xi Chapter Alumni Advisory Committee. He is a donor to the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation through the Forever KA program, a member of the Crimson & Gold Society (George C. Marshall Circle), and a member of the Loyal Order.

He previously served on the Board of The Children’s Fund, Inc. and currently serves on the Advancement Committee of The Kinkaid School.
He and his wife, Jennifer, reside in Houston, Texas.

James Michael Schmuck (Alpha Eta–Westminster ’69)

Schmuck earned bachelor’s degrees in English and Physical Education from Westminster College, along with a master’s degree in English and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from St. Louis University.

He spent more than 33 years teaching English and communications and served as a cross country and track and field coach, receiving multiple state and national honors, including National Cross Country Coach of the Year.

He has served as Commander of Henry C. Chiles Province and as a member of the national Executive Council, and currently serves as Senior Councilor. He is a recipient of the Knight Commander’s Accolade and a member of The 1865 Trust and the Crimson & Gold Society.

He and his wife, Judy, reside in Wildwood, Missouri..

Erik Thomas Showalter (Gamma Alpha–Louisiana Tech ’02)

Showalter earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Louisiana Tech University and a Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University.

He previously served on staff at the Kappa Alpha Order National Administrative Office and the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation in leadership roles in chapter services and development.

He currently serves as President of the Baton Rouge General Hospital Foundation, overseeing fundraising and development operations. He has served on the KAOEF Board of Trustees and was elected to the national Executive Council in 2025.

He and his wife, Brook, reside in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with their two daughters.

Esteban Torres (Gamma Tau–Sam Houston State ’16)

Torres earned a degree in Business Administration from Sam Houston State University. As an undergraduate, he served as Sergeant at Arms in 2016 and Corresponding Secretary in 2017.

As an alumnus, he has served on the Gamma Tau Alumni Advisory Board, including as Secretary, and has chaired multiple committees. In 2025, he was appointed Alumni Chapter Advisor and currently serves as Chapter Advisor. He is a donor to the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation.

Professionally, Torres is a Sales Representative for Texas Pride Trailers, and resides in Madisonville, Texas.
